Distribution for inbound tourism
The traditional inbound tourism value chain is changing. In the traditional value chain, inbound tour operators and domestic tourism distributors connect with outbound tourism agencies as they work together to market and sell those destinations in particular outbound markets.
This process is very apparent when you visits large tourism expo´s, such as the World Travel Market, ITB Berlin or other travel and tourism trade shows. Conventionally, bigger operators in a given destination work with the local tourism boards to present their products to travel wholesale organizations and outbound organizations.
New of distribution
Over the last two decades, a plethora of alternative forms of travel distribution has emerged. With the growth of online travel agencies and eCommerce in general, travelers have been empowered and the process of buying inbound tourism and travel products has been revolutionized, to say the least.
Along with its partners, Travelshift aims to offer tour operators and travel service providers more options to promote their brands and services to prospective travelers, as well as access to alternative sales channels through the marketplaces operated on the Travelshift platform.
As became apparent to us through our experience with our initial project, Guide to Iceland, an inbound travel marketplace can level the playing field and offer smaller operators opportunities to access markets that otherwise would be unattainable for them due to a lack of resources.
